3 Tips to Spice Up Your Emails
With more than 205 billion emails being sent per day, it can be hard to get noticed in an inbox. What makes your email so special? Why would a consumer choose to interact with your email over another? How do you get a consumer to look forward to receiving your email?
Here are a few tips to spruce up your email and improve your performance:
1. Start Moving.
Instead of using static, stock images, try using an animated gif. Movement in your email can be stimulating and create interest. Animated gifs present several different opportunities to show off a product, give instructions, or display boring information in a more exciting way. Just don’t go overboard — use animated gifs sparingly and make sure they’re not a distraction from your call to action.
2. Get Personal.
When I see my name at the top of an email, my first reaction isn’t typically, “Wow, this company knows me. They know my name. I’m so impressed! I must buy everything in stock!” What I mean by getting personal is tailoring the email content to your consumer’s interests. Somebody who is about to retire probably isn’t interested in your “10 Tips to Getting a Job After College” article. Personalized content can add a tremendous amount of value to your emails. And it’s a great way to make your consumer feel like you’re paying attention to them, what they like, and what they need.
3. Ask Questions.
If you’re really at a loss for how to amp up your emails, just ask. Create a survey for your consumers to take. Ask them what kind of articles they’re interested in, what colors they like, what kinds of images grab their attention. Ask all of the questions you think may help you create the best email for that audience. At the end of the day, these are the people you want to be interested in what you have to say. Ask questions.
